![]() My rule of thumb is I transplant outside when the evening temperatures reach 50 degrees, and I will adjust my planting calendar accordingly. However, I also know that it can still dip into the low 40s all the way through early May, so I will plan accordingly. If the packet says, sow outside 1 to 2 weeks after your average last frost date, it will put me transplanting in late April the plants from the seeds I started in late February. When the seed packet says, plant 4 to 6 weeks before transplanting, it means plant your seeds 4 – 6 weeks before you’ll put them outside in the soil. For my area, the average last frost date is April 6. When growing from seed, you’ll want to keep an eye on the temperature and the average frost date for your region and plan accordingly. If you choose to use seeds, then start ordering your seeds right now, especially your onion sets and potato starts. I’m going to try again this season, starting my tomatoes and peppers indoors. However, I have killed plenty of tomato, cucumber, and pepper seedlings. ![]() And, I grow my beans, peas, carrots, onions, and garlic from seed. I grow almost all of my herbs, including cannabis, from seed. The hardier the plant, the luckier I’ve been. I must admit, my experience with beginning veggie plants indoors has been so-so. ![]() Therefore, some plants need to be started indoors so that they’re big and robust enough to be planted outdoors at just the right time. We do not have a long summer growing season. I use a combination of seeds and transplants. Planning the spacing for my tomato transplants Decide on Seeds, Transplants, or Both And, really, I think I can do it – four to six San Marzano, two cherry tomato varieties, two mushroom baskets, and a dark heirloom. So, this year, I’ve decided that I’m going to limit myself to no more than 10. My neighbors and the food bank love it, but it is a lot of work as well. I’m a little backyard kitchen gardener, and I have had at least 18 tomato plants every year, in addition to everything else I’m growing. Maybe I’ll wine barrel them? Heirloom Italian Pole Green BeansĪlso, for the past three years, I’ve grown way too many tomatoes. So, I kept some seeds from the plant and planned to grow them this year in its own garden area attached to 8ft poles. These beans took over the raised bed they were in with vines over nine feet tall, which means they fell over the little 5ft poles I had them on. ![]() ![]() Last year, I grew a variety of Italian heirloom green pole beans that I was not familiar with. Also, consider what didn’t work and use that as an example of what not to do this year. You want to consider which plants you had success with and plan to repeat those measures. I’m relying on memory, which has not served me the best. This is why every serious gardener I know recommends keeping a gardening journal. When you start planning about your growing season and your spring and summer vegetable garden, look at what worked in previous seasons and what didn’t work. So what better way to help me get through the dark gray days of winter than to plan what I’m going to grow this year. However, just because I’m not trying to garden doesn’t mean I’m not starting to get excited about my spring vegetable garden. 3/15/2023 0 Comments Mgs huntdown![]() ![]() Time will tell what we come up with for a potential follow up game. Frequently bought together Total price: This item: Huntdown - Nintendo Switch by Crescent Marketing and Distribution 28. Not saying it is impossible, but there would be a lot of variables to consider and things to balance. Huntdown everything from feral punks to organised hockey hooligans, this game is riddled with 16-bit bad guys and crime bosses, each with their own stomping ground to reclaim, and arsenal of weapons to confiscate. Of course if we did that, the game would have to be designed/balanced with more than one mode of play/camera system in mind, 1-2 players, or 3-4 players. This game is amazing btw, although I did buy it on EPIC through Humble instead of Steam by mistake lol The only problem I could foresee with a 4 player mode is that the camera would have to be pulled way out to make it. Whether your buddy is in the same room or on the other side of the planet, wreak havoc as a team through couch co-op or Steam Remote Play. In case anyone was curious :p Maybe 4 players could be in scope for Huntdown 2 -) Hunt solo or give suppressive fire and advance on the enemy together as you run, jump, and take cover in the mayhem-filled streets of the future. That being said, the game is very delicately balanced for 1 or 2 players, so to just add in a 3rd would be quite game breaking, and if due to overwhelming demand we decided to up the player number to 3 (or heck even 4) it would require massive enemy/item/stage rebalancing, as well as probably require the actual way the level displays would have to be pulled out to give a wider view of the action (so the players aren't so cramped visually), which would then require complete reworking of every sprite/character/item/level in the game. Null space of a matrixĪfter learning what is subspace, is time for us to focus on our main topic for today's lesson which is the null space. So make sure you understand equation 2 before continuing into the next section. This little review is useful since we will work with matrices and multiplications (besides typical row reduction) while finding null space. Matrix multiplication is shown clearly on our equation 2 below: Going forward, an imperative operation to remember is matrix multiplication in which having two factors (each being a matrix) notice how the first factor (matrix on the left) must contain the same amount of columns as the amount of rows found in the second factor (the matrix on the right in the multiplication). For that, the concepts of row space and column space come about: we define row space as the full extent of rows in the given matrix, and the same goes for the column space which will denote the spread of the columns in the matrix including all of their linear combinations. To continue on the topic of subspace linear algebra and the operations or elements one can find in them, let us look at the components found in any given m by n matrix:įirst of all, always remember that "m by n matrix" refers to a matrix with m quantity of rows and n quantity of columns. Closed under scalar multiplication property: If you multiply a constant to a vector in the set, the resultant vector is also part of the set.Īnd so, if all three conditions apply we say that the set S and a subspace:.Closed under addition property: The addition of vectors found on the set produces a vector also in the set.The set (called S) contains the zero vector. We have already learned through the lesson on the properties of subspace that a subspace is a set, a collection of elements (these elements could be scalars or vectors, in our case we will use vectors) belonging to the real coordinate space (Rn) which fulfills the next three conditions: We start with a little review on concepts we have seen throughout the linear algebra chapters to remind us of what is a row or a column space of a matrix, and continue our practice on m by n matrix operations. This shows that W 1 ∪ W 2 is not a subspace of V.In its simplest significance, the word null brings out the sense of canceling out, a sense of a void or emptiness, but how can we relate this to linear algebra and vector operations? Simple, this null definition we have on our heads will take us straight forward to the number zero, and so, in this case we will be looking into linear algebra operations, such as a homogeneous linear system which will return as a result the value of zero, in this case, the vector zero. Hence, α + β ∉ W 1 ∪ W 2, although α ∈ W 1 ∪ W 2 and β ∈ W 1 ∪ W 2. Let W 1 and W 2 be the two subspaces of the vector space R 2 such that Note: The union of two subspaces of a vector space is not, in general, a subspace of V. So for α, β ∈ W, we have α + β ∈ W 1 ∩ W 2 = W and cα ∈ W 1 ∩ W 2 = W, c ∈ F Hence, α, β ∈ W 1, and W 2 and for any c ∈ F, cα ∈ W 1, and W 2. Suppose the α, β ∈ W, then α, β ∈ W 1 and α, β ∈ W 2. Let W 1 and W 2 be two subspaces of a vector space V over a field F. Intersection of two subspaces of a vector space V over a field F is a subspace of V over F. So W is a subspace of V over the field of real numbers R. This implies that the zero function O ∈ W. The function f which assigns 0 to every x ∈ R, is the zero function, denoted by O. ![]() It is clear that, i.e., W consists of the odd real valued functions defined over R. If V is a vector space over a field F and W ⊆ V, then W is a subspace of vector space V if under the operations of V, W itself forms vector space over F. ![]() 3/14/2023 0 Comments Hows weather up here science![]() ![]() Scientists who study Earth’s climate look at the factors that affect our planet as a whole. And, these amounts are different for different planets. Overall, global climate depends on the amount of energy received by the sun and the amount of energy that is trapped in the system. Global climate is a description of the climate of a planet as a whole, with all the regional differences averaged. ![]() But, we can also describe the climate of an entire planet-referred to as the global climate. ![]() Like the United States, different regions of the world have varying climates. Are regional climates different from the global climate? And, as the Nation’s official archive for environmental data, it’s our job to collect, quality control, and organize these data and make them available online for scientists, decision makers, and you. With these long-term records, we can detect patterns and trends. In many locations around the United States, systematic weather records have been kept for over 140 years. Over time, these weather observations allow us to quantify long-term average conditions, which provide insight into an area’s climate. Some observations are made hourly, others just once a day. How do weather observations become climate data?Īcross the globe, observers and automated stations measure weather conditions at thousands of locations every day of the year. Climate tells you what types of clothes to have in your closet. But, while descriptions of an area’s climate provide a sense of what to expect, they don't provide any specific details about what the weather will be on any given day. They can also tell us when we might expect the warmest day of the year or the coldest day of the year at that location. Looking at Climate Normals can help us describe whether the summers are hot and humid and whether the winters are cold and snowy at a particular place. And, we refer to these three-decade averages of weather observations as Climate Normals. In some instances, they might look at these averages over 30 years. When scientists talk about climate, they're often looking at averages of precipitation, temperature, humidity, sunshine, wind, and other measures of weather that occur over a long period in a particular place. To describe the climate of a place, we might say what the temperatures are like during different seasons, how windy it usually is, or how much rain or snow typically falls. Different regions can have different climates. Whereas weather refers to short-term changes in the atmosphere, climate describes what the weather is like over a long period of time in a specific area. Together, they determine what the weather is like at a given time and location. And, there are many different factors that can change the atmosphere in a certain area like air pressure, temperature, humidity, wind speed and direction, and lots of other things. Most weather happens in the part of Earth’s atmosphere that is closest to the ground-called the troposphere. ![]() Weather is different in different parts of the world and changes over minutes, hours, days, and weeks. Even though there’s only one atmosphere on Earth, the weather isn’t the same all around the world. More specifically, weather is the mix of events that happen each day in our atmosphere. Is it normal or typical? Is it what you’d expect? If it’s been cool the past few days but the temperature is climbing today, is that weather or climate? Are weather and climate the same thing? Though they are closely related, weather and climate aren’t the same thing. Everyone must take climate action, but people and countries creating more of the problem have a greater responsibility to act first.Take a moment and think about the weather today where you are. The 10 countries with the largest emissions contribute 68 per cent. The 100 least-emitting countries generate 3 per cent of total emissions. The emissions that cause climate change come from every part of the world and affect everyone, but some countries produce much more than others. Yet policies currently in place point to a 2.8☌ temperature rise by the end of the century. In a series of UN reports, thousands of scientists and government reviewers agreed that limiting global temperature rise to no more than 1.5☌ would help us avoid the worst climate impacts and maintain a livable climate. In the future, the number of “climate refugees” is expected to rise. Conditions like sea-level rise and saltwater intrusion have advanced to the point where whole communities have had to relocate, and protracted droughts are putting people at risk of famine. Some of us are already more vulnerable to climate impacts, such as people living in small island nations and other developing countries. People are experiencing climate change in diverse waysĬlimate change can affect our health, ability to grow food, housing, safety and work. ![]() ![]() ![]() Reed will recognize that Adelaide's methods do offer positive results, and will leave his post at Edgewater leaving Adelaide who will leave the botanical laboratory and return to Edgewater.
